Project Scope

Graycor Construction was the general contractor for the 20,000 SF interior build-out of the Next Generation prototype Container Store. The Next Gen Store features 18 digital screens to support customers as they shop, providing inspiration, tips, an interactive design tool and a new digital experience called The Organization Studio.

The live environment build-out consisted of a complete overhaul of the existing space, taking place over four phases. Each phase was turned over to merchandising on or before the scheduled date to keep the store operating smoothly. This was the first live-environment renovation for The Container Store and it was completed ahead of schedule and under budget with a “zero-item” punch list.

The Container Store has very high expectations when it comes to quality, including exacting details where every millimeter of measurement in the installation process matters. The Next Generation Store features several unique design elements-a 16-foot portal frame, herringbone pattern LVT flooring, three focal walls, ceiling clouds and baffle ceiling-all of which were either new to the retailer or required a high degree of difficulty with installation.

The innovative new design concept will serve as a test and learn environment to determine elements for roll out to new and existing TCS locations.
